A successful Annual Conference in San Diego, California, was held March 19-22, 2009. Many NAPNAP members attended, along with their families, enjoying all that San Diego had to offer. The Spring Executive Board Meeting was conducted during the Annual Conference. A variety of issues related to enhancing NAPNAP benefits and services were discussed, including the NAPNAP: One United Voice Program. Successful Town Hall and Business Meetings also were held.

Practice
Looking After You and Your Young Child Booklet Now Available!
The new booklet Looking After You and Your Child contains useful and practical information on topics related to parents and caregivers with children between 18 months and 5 years of age. Visit www.napnap.org to download this wonderful new resource.
Journal Accepted for Inclusion in Thomson Reuters
The Journal of Pediatric Health Care has been accepted for inclusion in the Thomson Reuters database, formerly Thomson Scientific/ISI. This abstracting and indexing service will enable the Journal to be more widely disseminated among the health care community. The Journal continues to attract increasingly high-quality papers with direct relevance to patient care and current issues affecting pediatric advance practice nurses. The Editorial Board actively encourages original didactic or research articles concerning pediatric clinical practice (primary, acute, and specialty care), health care policy, and role issues relating to the pediatric nurse practicing in an expanded role.
New Immunization Brochure Available for Health Care Providers
NAPNAP recently developed an immunization brochure for those who provide health care for children. This brochure was made possible through an unrestricted educational grant from Sanofi Pasteur. A copy was mailed to all NAPNAP members and other health care providers. Additional copies can be downloaded by visiting www.napnap.org.
Research
The Research section of the National Office Web site (www.napnap.org) lists several available grants and scholarships that are available to NAPNAP members. Examples of current available scholarships include the following:
Elaine Gelman Scholarship
Students who are legislatively active are encouraged to apply for the Elaine Gelman Scholarship program, which provides up to $1000 if all criteria are met. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2009.
Rural & Underserved Scholarship
Through the generous support of McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc., NAPNAP members now can apply for the McNeil Rural & Underserved Scholarship. This scholarship of up to $10,000 will cover a full academic year for a PNP student who will provide primary care to children and families in rural areas after graduating. The deadline for applications is June 15, 2009.
Advocacy
The goals of promoting children's health and protecting the professional practice of advanced practice nurses who care for children direct NAPNAP's advocacy objectives. By working with our members and collaborating with other organizations with similar legislative interests, we effectively influence legislation and regulatory initiatives in these areas.
NAPNAP uses educational programs and provides materials to communicate with and keep members informed about legislative and health policy issues, including an annual Legislative Session at the NAPNAP Annual Conference.
For more information about NAPNAP's top policy issues, review NAPNAP's Public Policy Agenda. If you would like to contact the Health Policy Chair, please send an e-mail message to healthpolicy@napnap.org.
