Editor's note: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Roundtable is a coalition of seven organizations including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP), the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (AFPNP), the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH), the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners (NCGNP) and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). This group was formed to address issues of importance to nurse practitioners through collaborative and unified discourse.
The NP Roundtable recently released its first statement regarding Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) education, certification, and titling. The organizations involved are to be commended for their efforts to assure the public that NPs provide safe, quality care while also adapting to meet the challenges of an ever changing health care system.
