NAPNAP completed its 35th year of service to the pediatric nursing profession. Thanks to all of the members who donated to the NAPNAP Foundation during the anniversary year.
At the 29th Annual Conference in April 2008, NAPNAP launched Pediatric Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. This launch was a major milestone for NAPNAP and collaborating organizations such as the Society of Pediatric Nursing and the American Nurses Association. The project combined more than 4 years of research, review, editing, and diligence on the part of many dedicated pediatric nurses. The document is intended to guide, define, and direct pediatric nursing practice. It represents the discipline, scope, and standards of all nurses specializing in pediatrics and helps pediatric nurses speak with one voice.
Association Development
This year NAPNAP approved two new position statements: Position Statement on the Prevention of Unintentional Injuries in Children and Position Statement on Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren. The Position Statement on Age Parameters for Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Practice was recently revised. This revision replaces the 2002 version. To view these statements, visit the Web site at www.napnap.org.
Education
NAPNAP announces the launch of their new Online Continuing Education Community - PNP SOURCE (www.napnapce.org). PNP SOURCE is designed to deliver much needed advanced pediatric health care education with content specifically developed for the PNP and Advanced Practice Nurse audience.
NAPNAP members may connect to PNP SOURCE through the Member's only section of the NAPNAP Web site without having to enter in any additional login information.

Collaborations
The immediate past presidents of NAPNAP (Carolyn Jaramillo de Montoya) and the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (Patricia Jackson Allen) authored a joint statement addressing the lack of coverage of pediatric patients in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice. Their statement points out that children are the largest population who seek and use health care services in the United States. Their letter in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing document asks that children be considered as a discreet population and that language be added that reflects the need for baccalaureate level–prepared nurses to possess the education and skills necessary to care for children.
NAPNAP has partnered with Reckitt Benckiser Inc. to develop Looking after You and Your Baby, a resource for new parents, and R.B.'s Activity Book, a fun way to promote good health for children. For more information, visit the Web site www.napnap.org.
