NAPNAP is celebrating its 35th year of service to the pediatric nursing profession. A new Anniversary logo that commemorates NAPNAP’s 35 years of existence will be used on letterhead, envelopes, and appropriate promotional items during this celebration year. In honor of the momentous occasion, NAPNAP is embarking on a “35 dollars for 35 years” campaign, asking that all members donate $1 for each year of NAPNAP’s existence to the NAPNAP Foundation. For more information or to make a donation, please contact the National Office at www.napnap.org or telephone (856) 857-9700; members only: (877) 662-7627.

Position Statements
NAPNAP adopts positions on myriad issues regarding children’s health and professional nursing practice. We follow a rigorous process, beginning with the approval of the pursuit of a position, as well as in the actual development of each position. All of our position statements must be approved by NAPNAP’s Executive Board. NAPNAP’s position statements are regularly reviewed to ensure they meet evolving standards and best practices. All regular position statements from NAPNAP automatically expire 5 years after publication unless reaffirmed, revised, or retired at or before that time.
NAPNAP also supports position statements from other organizations. For example, NAPNAP is pleased to support the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation’s Position Statement on Health Professionals and Environmental Health Education. This statement covers many aspects related to the need for improvements in health professionals’ environmental health knowledge.
Collaborations
Members from NAPNAP and the Society of Pediatric Nurses have been working for the past several months on the development of a unified Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing. Both a writing work group and a reviewer work group have served our organizations well to develop a unique document, which will be published by the American Nurses Association. The document provides a comprehensive summary of the professional role of pediatric nurses in all settings and in all levels of practice. All members of NAPNAP and the Society of Pediatric Nurses will have the opportunity to provide comment on the document. A draft document is posted online. NAPNAP encourages all members to review the document and provide the requested feedback so that the final document is reflective of your roles. Thank you in advance for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback. Please check the NAPNAP Web site (www.napnap.org) for the posting!
NAPNAP developed a joint statement with the American College of Nurse Practitioners, the National Association of School Nurses, and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties on Adolescent Immunizations: Nurses Can Make a Difference. The statement covers important issues related to immunizations in the adolescent population. The Statement is available for viewing on the NAPNAP Web site (www.napnap.org) under the Practice tab.
